Product: Norvina Pro Pigment Volume 1
What it is: A pigment and eyeshadow palette
Price: CAD 79
Availability: Sephora and Online
Love/Pass: Love (sort of)
Why: This is not a beginner palette. All of the pressed pigments may be a bit more difficult to work with, and you do run the risk of staining on the skin. This palette can be used for the face if you need a blush. I look at all these purple shades and I think the original Norvina eyeshadow palette, the ColorPop Lilac palette, etc. This is a lot of money if you want a gift for a purple fiend, this may be the thing you have been waiting for. However, there are many other options on the market that can hook you up for less than seventy dollars.
Product: Norvina Pro Pigment Volume 2
What it is: Another pigment and eyeshadow palette
Price: CAD 79
Availability: Sephora and Online
Love/Pass: Pass
Why: Back to back launches, another 25 shades. ABH has been on a launching spree to rival ColorPop. There have been so many eyeshadow/pigment launches this year; I would say that most consumers are already experiencing buyers fatigue with this company. Personally, I feel that this palette is hugely derivative. Tarte’s Icy Betch, Jeffree Star’s Blue Blood, Huda Beauty’s Obsessions palette’s all pop into my mind. This is another pigment-based palette. This is not a palette for beginner’s, you may experience staining. If it calls to you, great. To me, it’s just a repeat of what everyone else has already done.
Product: Natasha Denona Metropolis Palette
What it is: 28 pans eyeshadow palette
Price: CAD 170
Availability: Sephora and Online
Love/Pass: Pass
Why: I love Natasha Denona. Biba palette is life. This palette, however, isn’t. This is literally a mash-up of palettes that she has already created. If you already have other palettes from her, you won’t need this one. Several shades are very similar. I love the formula, just hate the complete rip off of a color story. If you have nothing new to bring to market, stop, wait until you have an idea instead of just giving the market a clip-show re-run.
Product: Sol De Janerio Bum Bum Carnaval Celebration
What it is: A holiday set containing: Hand cream, shower gel, Bum bum cream, and fragrance mist
Price: CAD 77
Availability: Sephora and Online
Love/Pass: Pass
Why: If you love the brand, this is a great gift. The price is not bad, the product is widely loved. Check the smell out in Sephora before deciding to purchase, some smell summer and happiness other people report smelling buttered popcorn.
Product: Pat McGrath Labs Mothership VI Eyeshadow Palette
What it is: 10 pans eyeshadow palette
Price: CAD 170
Availability: Sephora and Online
Love/Pass: Pass
Why: No one on the market makes shadows like Pat McGrath. Her shimmers are to die for. Her shadows are all pigmented and beautiful. The packaging is second to none. The problem is that this isn’t anything NEW. More warm browns and gold shimmers. Many of which you will find close or exact matches for in other palette offerings from the brand. If you can justify $17 per shadow, then by all means. But, I think collectors of the brand will find themselves disappointed.
Product: Tarte Winter Wonderglam Deluxe Eye Palette
What it is: 24 shadows, mascara, and liner, with a brush
Price: CAD 65
Availability: Sephora and Online
Love/Pass: Love
Why: This set would make a great gift. Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara coupled with a beautiful liner and a decent shadow palette. This would work well for the person who doesn’t want colors that scream at you from two towns over. Excellent quality and beautiful packaging make this a significant step up from drugstore offerings.
Product: Sephora Favorites Lashstash
What it is: A collection 10 mascaras and one set of lashes
Price: CAD 58
Availability: Sephora and Online
Love/Pass: Love
Why: This is an excellent opportunity to try out a bunch of travel-sized mascara’s, and you get a great set of Huda Beauty lashes. This one is a definite buy. It would be easy to open the box and divide the extras that you don’t want into stocking stuffers. Love the idea.
