Lancome Definicils Mascara

This mascara retails at Sephora for $35.50.  For that price, you get a classic slim style tube of product available in two colorways.  I was fortunate enough to receive this product from the beautiful and always amazing Dave Lackie of Beauty Departure magazine, if you haven’t checked it out, give it a try at

The wand on this product is super skinny and perfectly designed for reaching all of those super small and hard to reach lashes.  Lashes are defined and lengthened yet, natural looking.  When I first applied it, I felt this would be perfect for a no makeup look.  It does not provide volume and does a stunning job of defining every lash.  I was ecstatic at the thought of using this for my bottom lashes, to give a little oomph!

So, that is good news.  The bad news is that the formula did not stay where I put it. It could be due to the thin nature of the formula itself but, I tried the product with and without primer, and the results were the same.  Used on the bottom lashes the product transferred to my under eye area and gave me the unwanted raccoon effect.  Used on the top lashes it merely disappeared in about three hours.  Which was surprising for a product with 4.3/5 star rating from Sephora

I have tried reapplying, setting sprays and nothing has worked to keep this little gem in place.  I have had better success with drug store brands staying on and looking great.  I am sorry to say this product is a hard pass for me.  If anyone out there has been able to get this product to work, could you let me know what your secret is?

As described on the Sephora website:

What it is:
An iconic, award-winning mascara that creates a natural-looking yet striking, lash look.

What it does:
Brush on lavishly long, perfectly-defined lashes with this signature mascara. Its flexible polymers coat each lash from root to tip, lengthening and defining each lash for unmatched definition.

What else you need to know:
This mascara’s bio-selective polymers cling to the lashes through electrical attraction. Bristles are arranged in a “hedgehog” pattern for maximum coverage with no clumps, and they’re grooved to hold the product, allowing gradual application and even spread of the formula. This product is ophthalmologist-tested, fragrance-free, and suitable for contact lens wearers.
