Hourglass Vanish Foundation

Hourglass is a remarkable company.  They are cruelty-free and committed to going Vegan by 2020.  They make incredible, if pricey products that are quite captivating to behold.   Available in 32 shades, this liquid retails at Sephora for $68 which will give you 0.84oz/25ml of product.  This is less than the average offering of 1oz/30ml of product that is typically seen on the market.

The packaging is a stunning frosted glass bottle. Simplistic in a way, yet luxe.  The liquid itself has no smell and is perfect.  I say this because this is the first and only product that has ever been an ideal match for my skin tone.  The application is easy with full coverage right out of the gate.  The formula is waterproof, sweatproof and paraben free. If you have oily skin, this product will work wonders.

I do not have oily skin.  I have dehydrated skin, and that is where I started to encounter problems with this product.   I didn’t read the bottle and instead went solely on the recommendations of the Sephora employees.  My fault.  This product settled into my fine lines and gave me extreme amounts of texture.  It was not a flattering picture.

I tried this product as directed without primer, I tried it with primer, with a heavy moisturizer, with a primer designed to provide more hydration, setting with powder, not setting, not setting and using facial mist.  All options still resulted in the product settling and accentuating my texture.   I don’t believe that its the fault of the product.  I found the coverage to be exceptional, the foundation lasted all day although it did get shiny and oily in my T-zone by mid-day.

This is a luxury product that you will either love or hate.  I would recommend trying a sample from Sephora before purchasing.  Although this foundation is terrific, it is really a toss up on how well it will adapt to each skin type.
