Rimmel Magnif’eyes Shadow Palette

Available in six colorways, these 12 pan shadow palettes from Rimmel are an anomaly in the drugstore market.  They are cost-effective, ranging in price from $9-$13 depending on the retailer.  This works out to a per gram cost of 64 cents – 91 cents depending on the retailer.  That is an excellent value.  I purchased the Spice edition palette because it is a very close dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette.

Each of the different palettes offers a cohesive color scheme, a well thought out color placement and good pan size.  Each color scheme comes with a brush, but no mirror. Initially, I had been seeking the Electric Violet palette, but like many of the palettes in this series, the shadows were chalky with little in the way of color payoff.  rimmel2

That is where the Rimmel line becomes frustrating.  They offer amazing colors, fantastic prices, phenomenal pan sizes and yet the quality of the product seems to vary significantly.  The shadows are hard packed into the pan, which is excellent if you like to swirl your brush around, there was not a lot of fallout of kickup in the pan.  Which makes this a beautiful palette to take in my carry-all bag.

Some shadows offer an excellent color payoff, and others are chalky,  they do blend easily, and if you aren’t careful, you can end up with a muddy looking product.  For day to day looks, I love this palette.  It’s fast and easy.  If you are considering purchasing from this palette line, I would recommend that you swatch the shadows at the store and see if it is going to work for your needs.

Personally, I think the color schemes are beautiful.  I will definitely be purchasing more palette’s from them in the future, in many ways these palettes are pretty close dupes for several famous high-end brands and the other product lines that are offered from this company are affordable and exciting.
