HydraMatte Liquid Lipstick

I struggle with lip colors.  They end up on my teeth, bleed, feather, fade, flake off, or look cakey.  Lip balms work, but don’t always look sophisticated.  I have tried a variety of products that promise perfect lasting lip color.  Usually, this means I end up with dry, flaky lips and any little bit of oil will remove the color and leave a blank spot.

This liquid lip retails for $20 which gives you 0.09oz/2.6g.  Available in 34 different shades you are sure to find the perfect one.  HydraMatte goes on in one quick, opaque coat.  Unlike Lipsense and Covergirl you don’t need a top coat to prevent your lips from drying out and falling off.  Simply moisturize lips before application.  The formula dries down quickly, and it surprised me: it wasn’t sticky, it had a minimal transfer, it stayed on through eating and drinking, it didn’t move around, and it still looked good after 6 hours.1995-2

I did have some fading in the center of my lips by the end of the test but, I did eat a fair bit of greasy food.  I think it would have been less noticeable if I had lined my lips entirely before application of the lipstick.  This would be in the same family with the Maybelline Super Stay Lip Ink for lasting power.  My preference for this product lays in the uniqueness of the shade range, the cruelty-free status and how amazing the customer service is.

My current shade is 1995.  It was developed with Jaclyn Hill a few years back and carries a signature 90’s feel that pairs perfectly with the grungy looks from the Anatasia Beverly Hills Subculture palette.  A deep brown that is sassy and spicy all at the same time.  I also have a variety of other shades, and each brings a different feeling from romance to power.  What is your shade?
