Linalool is a terpene alcohol that is found in a variety of plants and natural sources. It is commonly used in a wide variety of cosmetic products for its scent. It is also used as an insecticide. Although relatively safe, this ingredient may cause allergic reactions in some people. With an added side effect of potential dizziness.
For the large majority of the populace this ingredient is harmless. Some studies have indicated a possible cancer fighting effect from the chemical however, no solid evidence is available to support this claim as of yet. Conversely, studies have shown that certain types of low concentration essential oils with Linalool can result in cell death. Again, more evidence is needed.
The upside: Linalool is listed as having anti-microbial properties, calms anxiety, reduces depression and lowers stress. Studies are not complete on this although it is well known that certain smells can relax the body and lower anxiety.
